NEPAD: An important focus area for geoinformation

GIS specialists of the Centre will be visiting regions of Africa to meet with regional economic commissions and regional institutions to gain a first hand understanding of what geoinformation capacity exists at a regional as well as at a national level. This is important to understand if the GIS Centre is in any way going to be able contribute towards and facilitate the effective use of geoinformation in NEPAD. Craig Schwabe, also recently presented a paper on Geoinformation and NEPAD at the 3rd meeting of the Committee on Development Information (CODI) held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
