Dr Monde Makiwane is a senior research specialist in the Human and Social Development research programme. He holds an MA in psychology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and obtained a PhD in demography from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa (1998)
Before joining the HSRC in 2003, he was a lecturer at Walter Sisulu University.
His areas of research interest include: ageing, fertility, teenage sexuality and social security.
Dr Makiwane's publication record spans the authoring and co-authoring a number of international and national conference presentations and a number of journal articles. His most recent work, published in Journal of Aging and Social policy, investigated the role of older persons in Mpumalanga households. |
