Mr Julien Rumbelow is a research manager in the Knowledge Systems cross-cutting research unit. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science in economics from the University of Cape Town (UCT), and obtained a n MBA from UCT's Graduate School of Business in 2001.
Before joining the HSRC full time in February 2006, he worked as a business consultant. He has also worked in short-term insurance and risk management, both for Alexander Forbes in Johannesburg and for Sedgwick Plc in London.
His areas of research interest include national R&D and innovation indicators, with special emphasis on business sector knowledge economy measurement and how indicators can assist policy in the key areas of economic growth, risk management and competitiveness.
Mr Rumbelow's publication record includes co-authoring the National R&D Survey Report on an annual basis since 2001. His most recent work, published in HSRC Review, provided observations of the R&D behavior of South African firms. |
