ESD has embarked on an ongoing process of reviewing developments in education, skills development and innovation in a newsletter titled RESDI (Review of Education, Skills Development and Innovation). The newsletter provides an overview of pertinent developments in education; it considers the broader sector in South Africa and looks at regional innovation systems and strategies.
November 2010 Issue
The latest edition of RESDI explores post-World Cup South Africa's renewed commitment to get down to work, it considers teacher shortages and new education pathways in terms of post-schooling opportunities.
June 2010 issue
FET college sector in the spotlight in this issue, along with the new role of universities in promoting innovation for socio-economic development and the effects of the relationship between mother-tongue and English-as-a-foreign-language instruction upon learning outcomes.
November 2009 issue
The first edition of RESDI (November 2009) provides an overview of developments in education before and after the 2009 election; it considers risks and opportunities in the shift of the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) from the Department of Labour to the Department of Higher education and Training; and looks at regional innovation systems and strategies.
