Public engagement

In 2018/19 interviews are done with former student activists and student leaders from case study campuses. If you are a current or former student / student activist / student leader from any campus or organisation and would like to contribute to the project, you are welcome to contact Mr Nkululeko Makhubu. In partnership with South African History Online (SAHO), the HSRC developed a public archiving website that allows former student activists and members of the public to make their digital artefacts, pictures, video-clips, documents, etc. available to the public. In addition, SAHO has been developing a number of timelines of protest events.

Public engagement events will be held in 2019, 2020 and 2021 on university campuses and other sites, including book launches, video screenings, photo exhibitions and seminars. Please follow @osphera and www.osphera.net or contact Mr Nkululeko Makhubu for information.

Research into case study campus-specific timelines of protest events is also done as part of in-depth interviews with former student activists (2015/16) from nine case study campuses.
