Skills audit review and tourism HR development
INVITATION TO REVIEW:
SKILLS AUDIT REVIEW AND TOURISM HUMAN RESOURCE
DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY FOR SOUTH AFRICA
The National Department of Tourism (NDT) in partnership with Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, Sports Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) are in the final stages of developing a Tourism Human Resource Development (THRD) Strategy for South Africa.
The process initiated in 2015 is aimed at enhancing the skills of workers in the Tourism Industry. The HSRC has been commissioned to facilitate a consultative and participatory process across provinces and all three sectors, hospitality, travel and tourism and conservation and involving stakeholders from government, institutions of learning and industry stakeholders.
A draft Skills Audit Report and Tourism Human Resource Development Strategy for South Africa is available for review and comments. As a key stakeholder in the industry we are keen to secure your critical inputs towards the finalization of the Strategy for the Tourism Sector. The strategy is expected to guide a 10 year implementation plan.
The first draft of the Skills Audit Report and Strategy has been widely circulated and can be accessed via the link below. Any feedback you wish to share can be emailed to tourismproject@hsrc.ac.za by no later than the 7th of February 2017.
