Launch of the South African National HIV (SABSSM V) Survey 2016/2017

The 2017 South African national HIV prevalence, incidence, behaviour and com munication survey is the fifth in a series of population-based, cross-sectional surveys of households in South Africa designed to assess the prevalence of key human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-related health indicators.
The Human Sciences Research Council has lead a consortium of organisations conducting this survey series since 2002. The United States (U. S. ) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U. S. President's Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) have been the main funder since 2005.
The launch will create awareness about the study to the general public and it also aims to encourage participation amongst South Africans if they are chosen to participate.
