Chinese in Africa: how are they portrayed in popular African culture?

In this presentation, Dr Ferreira-Meyers looks at how Chinese immigrants are viewed through the eyes of African peoples as portrayed in contemporary African crime novels. She will analyse several recently (published after 2010) detective novels and thrillers published in Africa to discuss the interaction between fact and fiction, between ‘real’ life and its literary representations.
