What’s in a breakfast anyway? Anything you like except ‘dangerous’ truth

To attend a breakfast on the day of the Opening of Parliament, hosted by the New Age newspaper with special guest President Jacob Zuma, will set one back R800.

These breakfasts have been the subject of controversy as it has come to light that state-owned enterprises such as Telkom and Eskom have been sponsoring them.

Eskom’s Hilary Joffe has said this is a “branding” exercise for Eskom and thus worth the expenditure. How curious when Eskom is a monopoloy.
