Professor Ivan Turok was a speaker on a high-level panel at the Habitat III conference in Equador on 18th October. There were 30,000 participants at the event.
The topic of his talk was National Urban Policies and stakeholder engagement.
He discussed the need for governments to work more closely with other interests in civil society and the private sector if they are to achieve more productive, inclusive and resilient cities. He also offered some practical suggestions for how national and local governments could establish social contracts and practical partnerships to deliver more successful urban development.
