A Drop in public confidence in the courts can be blamed on “ongoing and unjustified attacks” on the judiciary by senior African National Congress and government officials, says the Institute of Security Studies.
Commenting on a Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) survey, which found that the level of trust in the courts had declined to 50% last year from a high of 57% in 2009, the institute said the government was undermining its own efforts to restore public confidence in the courts.
