Public sector excellence award for HSRC

The HSRC was awarded the 2009 GOLD Award for Public Sector Excellence in the category for Best Reputation: Training and Development Sector, as voted by the citizens of South Africa by the Brand Leadership Academy, an independent organisation that promotes public sector excellence. The awards were presented at a function on 26 October in Johannesburg. The survey was conducted among 1 500 citizens by tns research surveys. It is supported by the Sunday Times, Sowetan, E-News, Wits Business School, BizCommunity.com, SAfm and Ogilvy.

The Public Sector Excellence Awards are an effort to encourage and acknowledge excellence in the public sector by an independent organisation.

South Africans from all walks of life were given the opportunity to provide their feedback as to their perceptions of government departments, parastatals, provincial government and even the country’s leadership.

Thebe Ikalafeng, founder of the Brand Leadership Academy, said the awards sought to recognise and and celebrate excellence in the public sector among those departments and organisations that meet the service delivery principles of Batho Pele.
