The Cabinet has approved the reappointment of Dr Olive Shisana as chief executive officer (CEO) of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) for a second five-year term, taking effect on 1 August 2010 – 31 July 2015.

The   interim   chair of the board, Mrs Phumelele Nzimande, stated: “Dr Shisana’s effective leadership and leading by example through hard work have been noted. She will build on the gains she has made and take the HSRC to a new level.”

Nzimande commended the recent restructuring of the HSRC, which has proceeded smoothly. “The board is in full support of the changes that have been made. Further announcements on restructuring will be announced in due course by Dr Shisana.”

She wished Dr Shisana and the HSRC great success on behalf of the board.
