Medicine in the 4th Industrial Revolution era: Where do we place cancer?

by Adziliwi Nematandani

Certain types of cancer may be curable if diagnosed and treated early. To explore emerging biomedical diagnostic and treatment technologies the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) in partnership with Nabio Consulting held a Cancer Policy Dialogue on Thursday 25 October 2018.

As part of cancer awareness month activities, the seminar presented a platform for dialogue between researchers, industry, policy makers and the public. Moreover, it created an understanding of the bottlenecks that exist across the sectors of healthcare and innovation.

The one-day event which was held at the HSRC Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town laid the groundwork for South African researchers to showcase their research work and for industry to talk about their emerging biomedical diagnostics and therapeutics for combating cancer.
