BRICS RC explores collaboration with Japan

The HSRC's BRICS Research Centre is hosting visiting scholar Professor Tomoo Marukawa from the University of Tokyo to discuss possible partnerships and collaborations with the Japan Association for Asian Studies.

Prof. Marukawa is also engaging the HSRC in a discussion on the positive and negative impacts on South African economic relations with China, China's initiatives on economic cooperation such as the New Development Bank, and influences of the recent downturn of China's economic growth on South Africa.

He will present some hypothetical thoughts about the economic relationship between South Africa and China, and is keen on robust thoughts, insights, and comments on these issues.
