Abstract

The National Research and Experimental Development (R&D) Survey is currently the largest project under the National System of Innovation (NSI) studies.

The R&D Survey is conducted for and funded by DST. Based on OECD guidelines detailed in the Frascati Manual. These surveys form part of the country's Official Statistics. The surveys are concerned with quantifying the inputs into the conduct of R&D, namely people and money. They cover government, science councils, higher education, private and public business enterprises and non-profit organisations. It is intended to develop and maintain sufficient in-house capacity to continue conducting the R&D surveys on an annual basis.
