Abstract

The main burden in dealing with the impact of the HIV and AIDS on the public service falls on the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA). In order for the public service to be successful, the impact of the pandemic on its own employees will have to be managed. There is a need for increased capacity to deal with the different aspects of the HIV and AIDS epidemic in the public service. The research assessed the capacity needs of the public service with regard to the implementation of AIDS workplace programmes.
