Abstract

This report outlines some of the experiences of a few former members of MK, APLA and AZANLA prior to their joining the respective arms wings of their liberation movements in exile, in the camps of the liberation movements abroad, and in the post-apartheid South Africa. The interviews with these military veterans provide narratives for use in the Armed Struggle Living Museum project of the Amatole District Municipality to be built in the Eastern Cape province. This research was carried out by the Democracy, Governance and Service Delivery programme of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) of South Africa. The interviews conducted in the Eastern Cape are considered to mark the second phase of the project.
