Towards Local Solutions to Early Warning and Disaster Risk Community (SADC) and beyond

Climate change is negatively impacting the global community and local communities in the SADC region. Extreme weather events are occurring more frequently, posing a threat to human lives and well-being.

Therefore, it is important to learn lessons from past events and manage risks effectively as part of an integrated set of interventions directed at mitigating the harmful impacts of disasters and risks. Comprehensive disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategies are essential for sustainable development and for addressing the needs of vulnerable groups in society. Some countries around the world have started to roll out DRR strategies and have already made substantial progress in this respect.
