Dr Sizulu Moyo (MBChB, MPH, and PhD) is a Research Director in the SAPH programme. She holds an MBCHB, an MPH (epidemiology), a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Research Administration, and a PhD in Paediatrics and Child health in the field of tuberculosis (TB). She has extensive experience in public health research. Her work has focused on TB and HIV where she has successfully participated in numerous TB and HIV research projects leading multi-disciplinary teams and working with local, national and international stakeholders and collaborators. She also has experience in health systems and programmatic research and is a NRT rate researcher. She is a principal investigator of the South National TB prevalence survey, and was a co- principal investigator of the 5th South African National household HIV survey conducted in 2017. She is also the South African PI for a quality improvement study undertaken in collaboration with the BMGF in Durban and Cape Town. Before joining the HSRC in 2014, she was an epidemiologist focusing on drug-resistant TB

She has also worked in the area of TB vaccine trials prior to which she was a practicing clinician. Her research interests include tuberculosis, with a special interest in TB case finding, the epidemiology of drug-resistant TB and health systems research. Since joining the HSRC Dr Moyo has participated in and made contributions to the HIV research projects in the HAST programme. Dr Moyo's publication record spans the authoring and co-authoring of journal articles, conference presentations and research reports on TB and HIV.
